Why buy Wild?
We at The Wind and The Raven Wild-craft our way to happiness: -that is the surprising benefits of wildcrafting our own products; we delight in making what we sell!
At The Wind and The Raven, creating useful and beautiful things with our own hands is one of the keys to living a happy, fulfilled life. By Wildcrafting things we need or that add aesthetics to our daily life provides an outlet for stress, a break from the daily grind, and provides our tiny tribe an opportunity to explore new interests and passions.
More than just a fun pastime or an avenue to create unique, personalized items, Wildcrafting activities has also provided our family with a wealth of benefits for mental health!
You see, crafting any useful item can indeed be a therapeutic process. It allows us to escape from our worries, get outside to forage the raw materials we need, and gain focus on the task at hand; all while creating something beautiful and meaningful in the process.
Numerous studies have shown a positive correlation between engaging in wildcraft activities and improved mental health. These activities require focus, concentration, and problem-solving skills, stimulating areas of the brain related to memory and cognition.
Furthermore, it's been found that scent, such as that from incense, salves, teas, and candles, affects our mental states.
The soothing effect of scents that come from these products is based on how the brain processes smells. The scent from aromatic herbs or oils stimulates our limbic system, the part of the brain that is home to our memory and emotions. The stimulation can lead to the production of serotonin and dopamine, neurotransmitters that help regulate our mood.
Additionally, the repetitive acts of physical activity involved in many wildcrafting treks such as foraging, gathering, cultivating and processing the found bounty, can have a deep meditative effect helping to reduce anxiety and stress levels, leading to much more beautifully crafted products for all of our customers. (In our tiny shop, there is no rushed production of our goods here!)
Finally, there is the satisfaction of co-creation that creating our wildcraft products generate!
There's something incredibly satisfying about co-creating something that the natural world has provide us with our own hands, knowing our customers will be delighted with what they receive. cinnamon bark extract can promote collagen production in our skin.
It’s the main ingredient used in tandem with our other potent botanicals in our new night cream. Simply put on a small amount before bed and let cinnamon bark work it’s magic while you sleep!
How it works is that collagen is a protein that gives skin structure, and unfortunately it decreases with age, leading to wrinkles and sagging. However when we add cinnamon bark as an extracted compound infused in an oil base to our skin, the natural compound works wonders sub-dermally due to the skin absorbing Cinnamaldehyde, -the
main active component in cinnamon extract. Cinnamaldehyde activates the Insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) signaling pathway. This pathway promotes type I collagen biosynthesis in human dermal fibroblasts.
Cinnamon bark extract also contains antioxidants that protect skin from free radicals that can damage collagen.
Here is a list of benefits cinnamon bark provides for skin:
- Collagen production: Cinnamon bark can help with wrinkles and aging skin.
- Skin elasticity: Cinnamon bark can improve skin elasticity, firmness, and hydration.
- Wound healing: Cinnamon bark can promote skin wound healing.
- Acne: Cinnamon bark can help heal skin and tackle acne.
- Circulation: Cinnamon bark can improve circulation, which can invigorate the skin.

- **Clove oil**- Clove oil Clove oil is believed to help heal the skin and sore muscles due to its potent anti-inflammatory properties, primarily attributed to a compound called eugenol, which can provide pain relief and reduce swelling when applied topically to affected areas; essentially acting as a natural analgesic and soothing agent for both skin irritation and muscle aches. Key points about clove oil and its benefits for skin and muscles:
-Pain relief: The main active component, eugenol, has analgesic properties that can numb pain receptors, making it effective for easing discomfort from muscle soreness or minor skin irritations.
-Anti-inflammatory effects: Clove oil can help reduce inflammation in the skin and muscles, which can be beneficial for conditions like minor wounds, insect bites, and muscle strains.
-Antibacterial properties: Clove oil also possesses antibacterial qualities, potentially aiding in preventing infections on broken skin.
-Warming sensation: When applied topically, clove oil can produce a slight warming sensation which may further alleviate pain and discomfort in muscles.
- **Argan oil**
